The weight of the human body has to be balanced by the feet. At the same time, the body needs to be kept both flexible and agile. This means that the body can be injured very easily. It does not matter how it has been designed, or how complex it is. The feet contain all kinds of muscles, joints, ligaments and bones. Everyone of them has an important purpose. They can also all obtain some sort of injury when in function. This is the reason why foot pain can be quite common.

There are many causes that result in foot pain. Injury from sports can often cause trauma in the foot. But not in every instance.

Diabetic neuropathy is one common foot pain. Most of the time, the pain from this is comes from the nerves in the foot have died. Particularly after a lengthy amount of time after the body has experienced the hyperglycemic condition.

Gout is another type of foot pain. This has nothing to do with direct foot trauma. Instead, it is as a result of built-up uric acid. This acid is known to crystallize the joints that sit in the big toe. Eating too much rich food can increase the levels of uric acid. However, different types of genetics or physical trauma are also known to cause Gout.

As mentioned earlier, trauma to the foot itself is what usually causes foot pain. Pain that begins and ends in the foot is called Plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is a piece of tissue which connects the heel to the toes. The pain that comes from this occurs when this becomes irritated. A person may then feel pain at the arch area of the foot and also in the heel. The good news is, that this can be treated. Shoes with the correct arch support can be worn. Particular stretches designed for this condition can also be performed. If the pain needs to be relieved, Advil may be used when and where appropriate. This is an ordinary pain reliever available without prescription.

Once the arch of the foot and the heal begin to be affected by plantar fasciitis, the ball of the foot area may end up in pain. This is called metatarsalgia. This occurs when an ailment has caused trauma to the foot. Particularly if an individual is wearing incorrectly fitted shoes, or extreme exercise. The good news is that this can be relieved with some new well fitted shoes, and some mild pain medication.

There are a wide range of common foot problems that can be identified from a particular injury from the foot. Or they can be identified from a localized reaction to a systemic problem. The problem may have resulted from too much exercise, or from a sport an individual has been playing. Once the problem has been identified, its not hard to fix it. All an individual may need to do is keep their feet up for a few days and take it easy.
