When there is no cell phone service available, most people feel somewhat disconnected. Much of the countryside of America do not provide cell phone services. This means individual’s cannot get in touch with others to keep them updated on their whereabouts. Nor can individual’s let others know if they have been hurt, or if they are stopping for a break somewhere. Cell phones can be a huge life saver.

A new accessory has been created for phones that do not have access to reception in remote places. This is called the GoTenna. The GoTenna is designed to get a direct radio connection to other GoTennas. However, they all have to be no more than four miles away from each other. This accessory allows you to send text messages. You can also share your locations with friends and relatives. This device is sold in pairs for a reasonable price of two hundred dollars. It is nowhere near as clumsy as walkie talkies. It is also much more affordable than satellite phones.

A pair of GoTennas were tested in the San Francisco region as well as in some isolated areas in California. There were some major range limitations in urban and rocky areas. In the more dense and hilly City by the Bay Area, messages could only be sent out in over half a mile. Along the flat stretches of a beach, reception signal was across three miles.

Despite all of that, the GoTenna is well worth purchasing for those who go out of range a lot. It is very ideal if you still desire to communicate when you are on journeys, camping or on skiing trips. It is a good idea to keep your family in contact on overseas adventures. This will help prevent you from having to pay for international roaming fees.

Never assume that the GoTenna will replace all patchy cell services. If your line often drops out, there are other options you can choose from. These include: the mini cell tower and Wi-Fi calling.

Another option worth considering is the Reach Case R79X from Antenna 79. This is a new range-extending iPhone. In some country areas, the signal was weak. However, this did not always occur in other areas. Signal was also not picked up in locations where the phone could not find a signal. Despite this, it is worth trying out. You also have the option of returning it to the store if necessary.

The GoTenna has been designed for areas that do not have any signal whatsoever. It was created after superstorm Sandy in 2012. This storm removed all cell services throughout New York and New Jersey. After the storm, a business person named Daniela Perdomo who was based in Brooklyn, New York, thought that there must surely be a way for people to still use their cell phones. The GoTenna first began its shipping in October.

The GoTenna is only six inches long. It is very small and light. It can connect via Bluetooth to any Android or Apple phone that allows connection to GoTennas. The battery can last up to twenty four hours once it has been charged. This piece of technology can only send text messages and GPS coordinates. Voice or photographs cannot be sent. Its purpose is to simply communicate with another individual briefly. Or to make contact with emergency services.

It does not cost you anything to subscribe. Free maps can also be downloaded. It works best in flat locations. Texting is the best way to communicate with GoTenna.
